'Lieutenant Dan, you got new legs!' This pooch is loving the wind beneath his ears, for the first time!

Due to a congenital deformity, Derby the dog was born without front paws and short front legs. He was nearly put down after his former owners didn't want him anymore. Luckily Derby wound up at the Peace and Paws Dog Rescue shelter in Hillsborough, N.H.

Embracing 21st century technology, Peace and Paws used 3D scanners and modeling software to create prosthetic legs for Derby.

Owner, Dom Portanova, says Derby now loves going on two to three mile runs everyday! Portanova Said 'Derby was born with this deformity so he never really knew any different; he was a happy dog. However, his new legs have allowed him to run on concrete, play with other dogs and overall be more mobile. He runs faster than both of us, he never really tires out and he's just so happy.'
