The National Park Service will celebrate the opening of Schoodic Woods Campground September 2.

Schoodic Woods LLC bought the land in 2011 and spent the last two years constructing the campground and 8.5 miles of bike paths as well as 4 miles of hiking trails. The campground is adjacent to Schoodic Head, which is a less-visited part of Acadia National Park located east of Mount Desert Island, near the town of Winter Harbor.

The public is invited to celebrate this grand opening of the campground. Visitors can tour the 94 campsites after 3:30PM.
