It seems like Maine has been the backdrop of a lot of TV shows lately, because it has.

The Maine Film Office has seen a big increase in productions so far this year. So far 14 productions have been certified in the state. Those productions brought $3.7 million into the state. That's quite the jump from last year where filming in Maine brought in $1.5 million.

In a press release from the Department of Economic and Community Development, Commissioner George Gervais credited Karen Carberry Warhola with the success. Warhola took over as director of The Maine Film Office last year.

The Maine Film Office says their new website has helped too. The site has a fresh look, cycling through recommended locations in which to film.
