Paramedics responding to a medical emergency discovered a meth lab inside a Bangor apartment early Wednesday morning, police said.

Emergency crews were called to the apartment on Hammond St. at about 4 a.m.

“So while they were there assisting the individual they realized when they looked around the apartment that there was a very high probability that they were standing in the middle of some small meth operation," Bangor police Sgt. Tim Cotton told WABI.

Officers called the meth lab a "shake and bake" operation, which uses plastic bottles and tubing to make a small amount of the drug.

Police haven't released the name of the person who was being treated by paramedics when the meth lab was discovered and there's no word on their condition this evening.

No arrests have been made in connection with the suspected drug making operation.

It was the 21st time the MDEA has responded to a meth-related incident this year.
