The State Medical Examiner's office says an unexplained death was accidental. The man's body was found by passers-by outside his home.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says it appears Steven Michael Hanson struck his head. That was the conclusion of the state's medical examiner after an autopsy was conducted. Results of a toxicology test are still pending.

Detectives say it appears Hanson's head injury was likely caused by a fall outside his Long Island home late Tuesday night of early Wednesday morning. McCausland says Hanson likely dragged himself before being overcome.

His body was found in the driveway around 6:30 a.m. Long Island is off the coast of Portland.
