A man who police say put his girlfriend's 2-year-old son in a clothes dryer and turned it on has pleaded guilty. His sentencing is scheduled for next month.

Adam Morton, 28 of New Hampshire was in a Bangor courtroom on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to aggravated assault as part of a plea deal. Michael Roberts, Deputy District Attorney for Penobscot County told the BDN that the prosecutor will recommend Morton be sentenced to eight years in prison with all but two years suspended and three years' probation.

Second degree burns on the boy's back and arms matched the distinct pattern from the inside of the dryer. He also had blusters on his feet, bruises all over his body, and cuts that matched bolts in the drum. By pleading guilty, Morton admits that he put the toddler in the dryer and turned it on.He told police he let it turn once before taking the boy out.
