The man responsible for a head-on crash in Eddington last year that killed a teacher from Millinocket is going to prison. Scott Ramsdell, 45, had just left a methadone clinic when his vehicle crossed the center line.

According to the BDN, the Cutler resident pleaded guilty in March to manslaughter and aggravated operating under the influence of intoxicants. Ramsdell had received his methadone dose about 35 minutes prior to the accident that killed Denise Golding, age 47 of Eddington. His methadone dose was increased 43 percent in the nine days prior to the accident.

Golding taught English as a second language to Chinese students at Stearns Junior/Senior High School. She was a single mother of four grown children and was on her way to meet a colleague with whom she commuted to work in Millinocket when the accident happened. Golding died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
