Man Killed When Lawn Tractor Struck By SUV in Corinna

A Corinna man was killed when the lawn tractor he was driving was struck from behind by a passing pickup truck on Wednesday afternoon, according to police. 

Dana Doherty, 79, was driving the lawn tractor on the right side of the Corinna Center road shortly before 5 p.m. when the rear of the tractor was struck by a 2002 Ford Explorer driven by Mark Franzose, 34, of Garland, according to a release from the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office.

Doherty was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The accident is under investigation.
