This is the true definition of finding yourself!

Woolwich native Sally Gardiner-Smith just started her freshman year at Eckerd College in Florida, but unlike most incoming students, how she got there was unique.

Sally set sail on a 29-ft boat, way back on September 29, 2014, with her cockapoo Elli and now 3,000 miles later, she is on land and ready to start school.

Many adventures ensued, including being grounded waiting for boat parts, loneliness and scariest of all, losing her dog when she got away from her on land and was hit by a truck. Elli had to have her leg amputated.
