Two students from South Portland are heading to the Big Apple.

Seniors, Calvin Stanly and Elizabeth Small both attend South Portland High. They are no strangers to preforming their talents in front of big crowds. Both have quite a polished resume of big gigs.

Over the summer Stanly marched with the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps in competitions. Last January he marched through Washington D.C. as a part of the inaugural parade. Small  marches with the school color guard and has danced in Maine State Ballet productions of 'The Nutcracker.'

They both auditioned for a position in the Macy’s Great American Marching Band, and got the gig! Stanly will play sousaphone with 185 other high school musicians. Small will be part of the parade's 40-member dance troupe. Macy's confirmed that they are the only Maine representatives in the parade.

Auditions are open to only high school students. They are required to play a four to seven minute piece or a three to five minute dance routine. If selected, participants must pay a $1,500 participation fee. That doesn't include transportation costs.

Stanley and Small with march 35 blocks from Central Park to Herald Square. On November 28th they will be watched by 2.5 million spectators and 50 million TV viewers.
