A month long quarantine on a Maine pet store has been lifted.

Little Paws pet store in Scarborough was quarantined on February 1st when husky puppy, purchased from the store, tested positive for parvovirus.

Parvovirus can cause puppies to become dehydrated, induce vomiting and diarrhea. The virus is first found in dog feces or vomit. After contact, the virus has an incubation period on about 12 days. Most susceptible to the parvovirus are puppies 6 o 12 weeks old.

Sadly the husky pup died from the virus. However, the other puppies were tested and treated and are doing just fine.
