According to a new report, Maine ranks 40th in the country in average internet speeds.

The Washington Post published an article on average internet speeds using Akamai Technologies' State of the Internet report.

Out of the 50 U.S. states and Washington D.C., Maine came in at No. 40 with average peak speeds of 40.4 megabits per second in the 4th quarter of 2014.

That puts Maine way behind Delaware, which led the nation with internet speeds of 75.4 Mbps.

The slowest internet speeds in the country are found in Kentucky. According to the report, surfing the web in Kentucky (34 Mbps) is slightly faster than going online in Kuwait (33.9).
