It was an emotional day in Kennebunk yesterday.

It's well known that George and Barbara Bush spent a lot of time in the state of Maine, particularly in the Kennebunk area. After the former first lady passed away last week at the age of 92, some folks who had special relationship with her decided to pay tribute to her in a unique way.

About 200 people gathered at Kennebunk beach yesterday, several with their dogs, to remember the impact she had on the community. Some shared stories of encounters they had with the Bushes, and people donated children's books that will be given two local libraries and also a local children's hospital in Barbra Bush's name. People also signed a giant poster board that had a photo of her, and other tossed flowers into the ocean as well.

The Associated Press attended the event, and interviewed some of the folks gathered to share their stories.
