Beaches will be the topic of a conference today that is expected to draw over 200 people.

What we learned from Superstorm Sandy is the focus of the conference today at Southern Maine Community College. Sandy's storm surge was the source of most of the damage from the storm. 90,000 structures and over 25,000 vehicles were damaged beyond repair.

The day-long event is bringing together scientists, coastal property owners, beach goers, beach monitors, public officials and others. Subjects at the symposium include tourism, Superstorm Sandy, beach erosion, polution and more.
