The Maine Warden Service says a 56-year-old man's body was found Sunday morning next to his overturned ATV.

WABI-TV reports the man's family hadn't heard from him since Thursday.

Wardens say the body was found on a trail located off the Whittemore Hill Road, about 7 miles outside of downtown Skowhegan. He has a camp on the Whittemore Road. Wardens say it appears the man, whose name has not been released, may have struck a tree root with the ATV, causing it to roll down a very steep embankment.

We'll update this story when the victim's name is released.
