Congratulations are in order for Louis Tomlinson -- the One Direction boybander will take the field as a soccer player on Yorkshire's Doncaster Rovers during a match today, Feb. 26.

Tomlinson will play soccer (or football, as they call it across the pond) in a match against team rivals Rotherham at the Keepmoat Stadium today. 4,000 tickets have already been sold, and Directioners are even coming in from as far away as Denmark and Italy. Talk about dedication!

Last year, the 1D cutie made a non-contract deal with the team, whom he has had a good relationship with over the years. He was initially supposed to play in September but had to sit out due to an injury.

Doncaster spokesman Shaun Lockwood had nothing but good things to say about the singer, praising his support and his enthusiasm for becoming a team player.

"He's met all the players, but I should probably say they've met him because there are certainly a few wives, girlfriends and daughters glad that he's been around," Lockwood joked.

Speaking of girlfriends, Tomlinson, who has been dating GF Eleanor Calder for over two years, had a few words to say on the topic. Talking of his fellow 1D bandmates -- in particular, Harry Styles, who reportedly ended his relationship with Kendall Jenner -- Louis said, "I think we are actually all pretty good boyfriends. We’re definitely romantic."

“When we actually get to be with our girlfriends, we just want to do the normal stuff we never get to do, like watching crap TV together and staying in,” he revealed. A night on the couch eating popcorn and watching some bad TV with One Direction? Sounds like heaven to us!
