It turns out that squirrels are very good swimmers! They “dog paddle” with their front legs and use their tail as a rudder. But, it's a very strenuous activity for them.

A YouTube video catches one furry critter taking a dip across the Piscataqua River, which is a 12-mile-long tidal river forming the boundary of the states of New Hampshire and Maine.
