Bangor businesses are celebrating their 6th year of the Children's Book Drive to benefit Literacy Volunteers of Bangor, a non-profit organization that uses volunteers to teach area residents to strengthen their skills in reading.

Darling's Auto GroupDarling's Ice Cream for a Cause, and The Briar Patch are helping the cause for a month long effort to collect new or gently used donated books for the non-profit organization.

On Tuesday, June 26th, there will be a celebration of the drive in Downtown Bangor at the Briar Patch where they will be collecting books while Literacy Volunteers will do a read-along every hour.  To sweeten the event, you can grab a free ice cream from the Darling's Ice Cream Truck.

The event runs from 11 AM to 5:30 P.M. with a rain date of Wednesday, June 27th.  Share the Facebook Event and show that you're going.

Children's book donations can be taken all month long at The Briar Patch or at any Darling's location (Brewer, Bangor, Augusta or Ellsworth) during the month of June.

The Facebook event states that 100% of proceeds and books collected will go to Literacy Volunteers of Bangor and their community programs to help kids and adults learn to read!
