This is good news for those who make their living on the open seas.

Land-lovers had a good summer. Lobstermen had the best in eight years! Boat prices for lobster are over $4 per-pound. It's welcome change from when lobsters where dirt cheap in 2012.

Some lobstermen have described the season as 'perfect.' A good balance between supply and demand has kept prices high. Low fuel prices and long stretches of good weather also helped. Another contributing factor was the lobsters made their way into shore at a slow and steady pace.

In 2012, lobsters arrived earlier than usual. Their timing created a glut on the market causing prices the fall drastically.

In 2014 Maine lobstermen caught more than 123 million pounds of lobster.
