LL Bean announced this week that it's closing one of its call centers. A decrease in call volume is being blamed for the decision.

Employees were notified this week that the company will close the Bangor call center in 2016. It plans to try to keep as many of its 220 year-round employees as possible, offering them positions in the Lewiston or Portland call centers. Another option would be to become home agents.

The Bangor call center opened in 2005 and has been a large seasonal employer of part-time operators during the holiday season.
