A Lewiston man is in custody after allegedly stabbing a police officer five times before his arrest on domestic violence charges.

According to the Portland Press Herald, Police went to 27-year-old Jonathan Order's apartment to arrest him on a charge of Domestic Violence Aggravated Assault at around 2:30 Monday morning. The incident in question had happened shortly after midnight.

Order, at first, refused to allow police access to his College Street apartment, and made threatening remarks through the door. Suddenly, after a 30-minute standoff with Police, he lunged through the door and stabbed Corporal Michael Dumond 5 times, in the upper torso and hand, before once again barring the door. Dumond was treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries and released.

The standoff continued, briefly, before Order surrendered to Police. He was taken into custody and now faces multiple charges, including Aggravated Attempted Murder, two counts of Assault on a Corrections Officer and Assault on an Officer, and Trafficking In Prison Contraband, along with the original charge of Domestic Violence Aggravated Assault.
