[UPDATE] Although originally scheduled to land at Bangor International Airport this afternoon, it appears the world's largest airplane will not land at BIA as initially reported.

The Antonov An-225 Mriya was set to touch down at BIA after a nearly four-hour flight from Houston, Texas. Just before 2 p.m., however, the flight listing on FlightAware.com was removed.

Risteen Bahr of Bangor International Airport  said she could not confirm the plane's itinerary or whether it had been scheduled to land at BIA. She did say it is not uncommon for flights -- particularly cargo flights -- to change a flight plan for any number of reasons on short notice.

This monster plane weighs in at 628,317 pounds, empty. It's the longest airplane ever built at over 275 feet. The wingspan is 290 feet. Six turbofan engines rocket the aircraft through the sky at a maximum speed of 528 miles per hour.

The plane has landed in Bangor before, and Bahr said to keep an eye on the schedule for updated information.
