Lana Del Rey Debuts New Song ‘Shades of Cool’ [AUDIO]
After performing at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s wedding rehearsal dinner Friday night, Lana Del Rey is ready to continue promoting her new album ‘Ultraviolence,’ due out June 13. The 27-year-old singer has released a new single titled ‘Shades of Cool’ today as part of a special album pre-order deal.
‘Shades of Cool’ is slow, brooding, retro-lounge tune that is reminiscent of Lana Del Rey’s earlier works. She sings of a confident man that emits masculinity and coolness, saying, “My baby lives in shades of cool / Cool heart and hands and aptitude / He lives for love, for women too / I’m one of many, one is blue.”
Compared to ‘West Coast,’ ‘Shades of Cool’ isn’t as uptempo and its atmospheric feel reminds us all why Lana is so unique. It will be interesting to see how the rest of ‘Ultraviolence’ sounds and what direction Lana will take with the other songs.
