L.L. Bean plans to open its first U.S. outlet west of the Mississippi River.

The Freeport based outfitter announced yesterday it will be an anchor tenant in the Mall of America in a former Bloomingdale’s location. The 29,000 square-foot outlet store will include the Outdoor Discovery School. The school offers demonstrations of equipment and outdoor activity clinics, like kayaking and fly fishing.

The store will open November 10th.

It will be L.L. Bean’s first store in Minnesota, and its 21st retail store outside Maine.
