If you are looking for an adventurous activity to do with the kids once the weather gets a little warmer, how about a hike through Acadia National Park?

Need a little advice or some guidance to help you?  Check out this event coming to Bangor.

Author Hope Rowan will be at the Bangor Public Library Saturday, April 28th to discuss her book "Ten Days in Acadia: A Kids Hiking Guide to Mount Desert Island".

The book is a fictional story of a young girl hiking through the park with her family but the book also offers maps including trails in the park, as well as pictures of the hike, field notes of the plants and animals that can be seen during your hike, safety tips, and resources if your hiking day turns rainy.

The author will speak out the inspiration for her book as well as the importance of getting kids active and getting them outdoors.

Hope is a resident of Mount Desert Island.  She is a Geographical Information Systems Professional and has been creating maps, as well as teaching kids how to read and use maps, for years.

The event will run from 1 PM to 2 PM and include book sales and a signing.
