Katy Perry chatted about everything from comedians to competition to cartoons on 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,' leading up to her musical performance on 'Saturday Night Live.'

Entering to a Roots cover of 'Your Body Is a Wonderland' by her boyfriend John Mayer, Perry sported the weird 1990s school girl chic that's become her fashion M.O. as of late, complete with huge pigtails. "You guys are so funny," she chuckled.

Those of you who hoped to see Perry in some 'Saturday Night Live' sketches, you'll be let down by this news! "You know, I wish I could be in some comedy sketches because I love being around comedians, I love the air, I love the craziness that's going on upstairs -- but I have to go all over the world, and I'm only one person," she explained. "I'm not in a band or in a girl group, so I have to delegate my time very carefully," she said. "I'm picking out the outfits for the dancers, I'm writing the lyrics, I'm making sure the lights are okay ... I have a team that helps me and I couldn't do it without them, but I'm definitely the captain of my ship, and everybody reports to me!"

Perry also revealed that her personal heroes are comedians Amy Poehler, Amy Sedaris, Kristen Wiig and Tina Fey because they can be self-deprecating and not worry about "good lighting." She also explained that her look, which still includes a full styling team, hair extensions and a ton of makeup, is a far cry from 'Teenage Dream' -- and so is 'Prism.'

"'Teenage Dream' was super high concept and almost kind of cartoony, and I think the difference between this one and the next one is it's more vulnerable and raw and stripped down, as is evidenced by the photos," she said. "It's an evolution, it's three years later -- but it's still fun."

Also fun? Taboo, where Perry and Fallon got super competitive. Watch them play below!
