Seinfeld seems about the least likely sitcom to consider revival, to a point the idea formed the spine for an entire Curb Your Enthusiasm season. That said, Jerry Seinfeld has apparently at least been approached for a live episode return, and may himself return for Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 9.

The surprising tidbit came at the tail end of an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, in which Seinfeld was almost-jokingly asked about the prospect of a revival. The revered comedian wouldn’t say who floated the offer (or when), but one might presume NBC involved, given their propensity for live events of late:

If you wanted to pick up with Seinfeld tomorrow, you’d have a slew of options, too. But I’m guessing that won’t happen?

No. But we did have an offer — I won’t say who from — to do a new, live episode of Seinfeld on TV.

Did any piece of you consider it?

No! (Laughs.)

That said, Seinfeld at least noted he’d be happy to return for the newly-announced Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 9, given Larry David’s central role:

Anything with Larry, I’m in. I talked to him last week, and he says it’s going great. Can you think of another popular show that went away and then came back five years later with the same cast?

Last we heard, Curb was likely to shoot later this year for a 2017 bow, but might Jerry come along? Would a live Seinfeld have been worth stomaching another revival?
