Just before 1am Thursday morning fire crews from Bangor were called out to Court Street in an "all hands" fire which meant every fire unit in Bangor was assigned. Departments from Brewer and Hampden were contacted and placed on standby.

Assistant Fire Chief Rick Cheverie said when fire crews arrived they found a man sitting in a snow bank nearby. The man, who has yet to be identified by authorities, was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center for care. We have no word yet on his condition, although Asistant Chief Cheverie says the man was conscious and alert.

Over eight hours after the call came in fire fighters were still working to fully extinguish the blaze. A portion of Court Street was shut down while the Bangor Public Works department assisted with scraping and sanding the road and sidewalks where water was running from the fire hoses. Fire crews had to deal with subzero conditions as they worked on scene.

The investigation into how the fire started gets underway tomorrow.
