One man is dead and a second seriously injured after a fire swept their home in Mexico on Saturday.

The fire was reported at about noon today at 20 Brown Street, according to a news release from the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Firefighters arrived  to find heavy smoke and fire at the two story house.

Dean Watson, 45, was killed in the fire. Thomas Brown, who is in his 50s, is being treated for smoke inhalation at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Watson's father, 83-year-old John Watson, escaped without injury.

Fire Marshals say there were no working detectors and the fire started on a rear porch.

The cause continues to be investigated
