Miley Cyrus took a break from twerking while dressed like a horse to promote a petition banning horse-drawn carriages in New York City.

The operators of those carriages? Not a big fan of that petition. Or of Cyrus.

The occasional actress, singer, attention aficionado and fiancee of Liam Hemsworth tweeted to her zillion followers about a petition to end the longstanding Big Apple tradition, and the petition wound up garnering more than the requested amount of e-signatures within 10 minutes.

Apparently it's a pet cause for Cyrus' mom, Tish Cyrus.

TMZ reports that Tommy Doyle of the Carriage Operators of North America is taking Cyrus to task, effectively deeming her ignorant and meddling.

"How many times has Miley spent with working horses?" Doyle fumed.

"Does she even know what a healthy horse looks like? Has she been in the barn to see these animals?"

Doyle insisted that the horses are all "properly tended to" and "very well taken care of."

On the bright side for Doyle, her tweets about the petition have since been buried by self-indulgent retweets about her twerking video -- and a lot of somewhat inexplicable use of the word "dope" -- so he may not have to worry about getting too much negative attention anymore.

Until, of course, Cyrus has had enough attention of her own.
