The wooden sailing ship HMS Bounty which spent time along the Maine coast last summer has been abandoned over 150 miles from the center of Hurricane Sandy southeast of Cape Hatteras.

The 17-member crew boarded lifeboats as the ship took on water and could no longer move under its own power. The ship was constructed for the movie "Mutiny on the Bounty" starring Marlin Brando in the early 60s.
