The 44 year-old Mainer bargain bible, has inspired a new TV show.

History Channel didn't need Hollywood ideas for a new reality show. All they needed was a copy of Uncle Henry’s Weekly Swap Or Sell It Guide. 'Down East Dickering' is the title of a new show coming in April.

The show follows 10 penny pinchers as they scour the pages of Uncle Henry's for bargains. Kevin Webb is general manager of the Uncle Henry’s publications and website. He told the Portland Press Herald he knew the idea of filming some of the frugal bargain hunters around Maine would be a great TV show.

He picked some interesting readers for the show and shopped his idea around to various production companies. History finally decided to move forward with the pitch.

The first season will feature eight episodes. It's set to premiere on the History Channel April 2nd at 10PM.
