Highlights From The North American Wife Carrying Championship In Newry Maine [VIDEO]

It's wife carrying time!

The 18th Annual North American Wife Carrying Championship took place in Newry, Maine, on Saturday.

The contestants raced each other over a 278 yard obstacle course, in which husbands waded through water and clambered over hurdles while carrying their wives.

This year's winners were Kirsten and Jake Barney from Lexington, Virginia. The first-placed pair won beer totaling Kirsten's weight, and an entry into the World Championship, which takes place in Finland the following summer
