Healthcare Job Fair Bangor

Jobs in the healthcare and healthcare related fields are expected to increase by a combined 2.9 million by 2022 in the U.S., the biggest jump among industries monitored by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

That's part of an overall 15.6 million projected nationwide increase in employment through 2022, with the workforce growing 10.8 percent from 145 million to 161 million.

The Bureau says healthcare jobs, in particular, are growing because of "the long-term trends of an aging population and improved diagnosing and treatment options."

Healthcare support is the fastest growing sector with employment expected increase 28.1 percent. Healthcare (Practitioners and Technical) is the second fastest growing sector at 21.5 percent.

A recent report in The Atlantic featured data showing the Bangor metropolitan area among the fastest growing areas in terms of overall job growth.
