Every week we feature a new hometown and share photos and facts using hashtags on social media. This week our #hashtag hometown is Milford!

Milford's town slogan has to be one of the best in Maine! They are "The best little town by a dam site". That they are! While Milford may not seem like a big town, there are over 3,000 residents!

Milford's history was almost lost in a large fire at the towns largest employer, Bodwell Water Power Co. Though the plant was lost in the fire the town was saved in 1891. The Milford Plant was built later to continue Milford's industrial success.

Milford is also home to the Sunkhaze Meadows National Wildlife Refuge. This area is the states second largest peatland containing 11 different ecosystems, 140 species of birds and lots of wildlife.
