Every week we feature a new hometown and share photos and facts using hashtags on social media. This week our #hashtag hometown is Lamoine!

This town of over 1,000 residents could be one of those small towns you read about in fairy tales. Quiet and scenic full of history and continuing with industry.

The town was named after early resident Andre' LaMoyne, and the spelling was adjusted through time. The town began as a fishing and retirement town and offered a great place to live to those working in Ellsworth or Bar Harbor.

Today you will find a town that hasn't changed much, but has grown for sure. Lamoine State Park and Beach are popular draws to the town, and there is also a busy gravel mining industry here.
