Every week we feature a new hometown and share photos and facts using hashtags on social media. This week our #hashtag hometown is Bucksport!

One of the strangest towns, and possibly most haunted in Maine is Bucksport! This town has a long history beginning with the mysterious Red Paint People who are said to have vanished for reasons unknown but left burial grounds in the town. Since 1763 the town has been a generally thriving community.

The town is famous for it's history. From the mill on the Penobscot River to the infamous Buck tomb stone on Main. St., Bucksport has no shortage of stories and legends. Visit Bucksport and ask any local about Sara Ware, or the boot on the Buck tomb and they will tell you the story. See why Bucksport is Maine's most haunted town here.

Today the town is home to almost 5,000 people. Even after the closing of the largest employer in the town, Verso Mill, the town remains a busy and beautiful place to live!
