The Eta Aquarids are one of the two annual meteor showers that are caused by the debris trail left by the famous Halley's Comet hundreds of years ago. Forecasters estimate a maximum of 60 visible meteors per hour.

According to a map by Accuweather Maine has a fair chance of viewing the meteor shower around 3-5AM, although visibility will be even more limited due to a bright moon.

Slooh is an online observatory that will be offering a live broadcast of the meteor shower starting at 5PM tonight.  During the broadcast, professional astronomers will discuss the meteor shower and take questions from the public. Just send them a tweet with #MeteordeMayo followed by your question.
