Grief counselors are available this week at Hermon Middle School after a local student was killed in a weekend snowmobile accident.

Jarryd Tracy, 10, died Saturday when the sled he was on with his father struck a tree at the edge of a field. 33-year-old Jason Tracy was also killed in the accident. School officials have worked quickly to create a support system, despite this week's' school vacation, as the community struggles to deal with the tragedy .

In a post on the department's Facebook page, school officials say district counselors will be available this week at Hermon Middle School with support being offered to students and their families as they grieve. In addition, counselors will be on-hand next week when school resumes.

Families and community members who need support or who want to offer assistance should contact the Hermon Superintendent's office at (207) 848-4000, extension 6000. They can also email the Superintendent at gonyarg@hermon.net.
