I wonder how many people besides me, who aren't remotely looking for a new house, spend a bit too much time scouring real estate websites looking at a house they can't afford. I suppose it comes from the desire of driving by houses like this all the time, and never being able to see inside. I think we all wonder how the 1% lives sometimes.

Especially down in Bar Harbor. Most folks from Maine have dreamed of living near the ocean. Yet, few of us can afford to live there ourselves. So I imagine that's how we all end up on real estate sites, looking at these giant, fancy houses. The other day, I was looking at Zillow.com, and wondered what was currently, the most expensive house in Maine. I was not disappointed.

Listed by The Knowles Company and located on Eden Street In Bar Harbor, the home is a nearly 20,000-square-foot mansion with eight bedrooms, nine full baths, and three half baths. This house is so big, you could put people all over the place, that could totally ignore each other if they chose to do so. It could be like people having their own house within the house!

Built at the turn of the 20th century, it features lots of marble flooring, walls, and columns. Not to mention its own dock from which to launch boats. It's so big, it looks like you could pull a small yacht up to the side of it. And I'm sure people probably have! There's huge fireplaces everywhere, you name it. It's so big it starts to look like the Overlook Hotel in The Shining after a while.

If you look at all these photos, you can tell just how absolutely stunning the property is. The landscaping is immaculate. The floors look amazing, the kitchen is out of control. It has all the things you would expect in a home of this caliber. Maybe we can all just roll our pennies, and pool them together to buy it as a shared summer home. Now....how many pennies in 15 million bucks?
