Whether she's tweeting to her millions of fans or rocking out on her Prismatic World Tour, it seems like Katy Perry is always sharing bits of her life.

In her cover story for the October 2014 issue of Harper's Bazaar, KP opens up about a variety of topics, including how she meets men, how she acts out and the surprising app you'll find on her phone.

We rounded up the five most surprising things we learned about the singer in her Harper's Bazaar interview. Check it out!

Katy continues to educate herself -- and has the app to prove it!

“I’ve always been very attracted to gentlemen who have quite large vocabularies,” she said. “One of my favorite apps is the Dictionary.com app. In my late 20s, I’ve educated myself more than I did growing up because I wasn’t able to have a great education. I was taken out of school, put in these weird, janky, kind-of-not-really schools.”

Dating is hard -- even if you're Katy Perry.

The 'This Is How We Do' singer explained that it's not easy for her to just run into guys while she's out and about. Rather than turning to the Internet or a dating app, she relies on an old-fashioned method: mutual friends!

“Well, I’m not really on the street,” she said. “It’s usually just through friends of friends. We have a lot of dinner parties. I’m definitely not on Tinder, even though I joke about it. Sometimes I feel like a sense of humor does not translate into print.”

But she's learned a lot from past relationships.

Katy admitted that after divorcing Russell Brand and dating John Mayer, she started seeing a therapist.

“What I’ve learned is that if you don’t have the foundation of self-love first, you really have nowhere to pull love from to give it away," she said. "I had to learn about taking care of myself before I could take care of others. I want to mommy everyone. I want to take care of them. I want to save them, and I forget myself in the meantime. I learned that through therapy."

But here's what Katy does look for in a man.

"As I’m heading into my 30s I have less time for bulls---," she said. "I look for the same characteristics: a sense of humor -- someone who makes me laugh off the charts -- someone who is sensitive, someone who loves and understands music, and who is really smart. A lot of times I’ve ended up with people who have been intimidated by me, unfortunately. They say they’re not, but it comes out in the long run. They’re threatened, or there’s resentment because they don’t know how to handle it.”

Despite meditating five-to-six times a week, she admits she still has off days.

Understandably, there is a lot of pressure on Katy. Not only does she make every decision for the tour, the singer admits that it can be "overwhelming" to have such a full schedule -- and every once in a while she needs a day off.

"[I'll have an] act-out day about every four to six months," Katy said. "I’ll have a cigarette, which I know is absolutely horrible for me, after a few drinks when I’m having a week off. I don’t do black tar heroin.”
