The National Weather Service on Thursday issued a winter weather advisory for much of northern Maine.

The advisory is in effect from 1 a.m to 10 a.m. on Friday. The forecast calls for p to 2 inches of snow in northern Aroostook, northern Piscataquis and northern Somerest counties.

Forecasters say plan on slippery road conditions, including during the morning commute on Friday.

There is also a wind advisory for northern and eastern Maine, extending as far south as Bangor and including mid-coast and Downeast areas. The forecast calls for windy conditions with gusts up to 45 miles per hour. The wind advisory is in effect form 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. Forecasters warn of the possibility of wind-related power outages.
