Fired News Anchor A.J. Clemente Talks On-Air ‘F-Bomb’
Over the weekend A.J. Clemente had possibly the worst first day at a new job ever when he introduced himself as KFYR’s weekend news anchor by dropping the “F-bomb” and then following it with a “S-bomb.”
Clemente didn’t think the camera was rolling but was still promptly fired for the gaffe, denying citizens of Bismarck, North Dakota the chance to hear the next crazy thing out of his mouth.
Although he is now out of a job, the YouTube video of the profane outburst has made Clemente into an internet star, and he cashed in on his newfound fame by appearing on ‘Today.’
“It’s inexcusable, first, to even say those words,” Clemente said to Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie. “Fireball shot came right out of my mouth.”
Clemente reiterated that he had no idea that his verbal gaffe had aired. “I didn’t even know I said it on camera until my news director walked in on the third break,” he explained, adding that when he cursed he was venting his frustration about not being able to pronounce some names in a segment he had just pre-taped.
Clemente says he doesn’t blame KFYR for firing him and has “no animosity at all” to his former employers.
However, the public seems to think he got a raw deal. According to a ‘Today’ poll 83.6 percent said he should’ve gotten a second chance.
Clemente’s media tour won’t stop with just ‘Today’ — he will be on ‘The Late Show With David Letterman’ Wednesday night. Check out the NSFW video which made Clemente famous for all the wrong reasons below.
