Sadly for Fifth Harmony fans, the rumor mill has proven to dispense some truth — 5H are officially going on an indefinite hiatus.

In a message posted to Twitter Monday morning (March 19), the ladies explained their choice to pursue solo projects after six years as a band, and assured fans that they'll continue to tour as a group through the end of the year.

"Reflecting on the past six years since we started on X-Factor, we've realized just how far we've come and we appreciate everything so much, more now than ever," the girls posted. "We've really had one hell of a memorable journey together and can't begin to express our gratitude to y'all for coming along with us on this wild ride!"

The ladies added they plan to "grow creatively and really find our footing as individuals. In doing this we are allowing ourselves to gain new experiences, strengths and perspectives that we can bring back to our Fifth Harmony family."

Fans reacted to the news with a mix of incredulity and nostalgia.

"I had a wonderful time being a harmonizer . There were some really exciting moments. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. Take all the time you need. Good luck for the future," one wrote, while another noted "im so sad but i will always love you girls. thank you for everything."

5H, whose third self-titled album dropped in 2017, announced in February that they were canceling their forthcoming Australian tour, noting on ticketing site Ticketek: "TEG Live, the promoter of Fifth Harmony, has regretfully advised, due to necessary scheduling requirements, Fifth Harmony will be unable to proceed with their 2018 Australian Tour."

This, paired with Lauren Jauregui's slew of recent solo projects (Billboard claims she's switching labels to pursue additional one-woman projects), and Normani Kordei's new solo effort with Khalid left fans convinced the ladies were eventually headed for a split. Ally Brooke also recently signed with new solo management.
