Bangor residents can expect to see a number of police vehicles, fire trucks and ambulances outside Easter Maine Medical Center on Wednesday, May 11, but residents shouldn't worry, because it's all going to be part of an emergency preparedness exercise at the hospital.

According to the hospital's website, "EMMC is ensuring the ability of the hospital, law enforcement, and other emergency personnel to respond to an upset patient or visitor with a weapon."

The exercise will take place at the new Penobscot Pavilion, which will open for patient care on June 7, but patients may notice some activity near the main entrance, lobby and emergency department.

The drill, which is expected to begin at 10 a.m. and wrap up by noon, will have no impact on patient care, according the website.

More information on the training exercise can be found at emmc.org.
