Elderly Woman Victimized Resulting in Two Arrests and One Summons for Theft

Elderly abuse in Maine comes in many forms and a case being investigated by the Knox County Sheriff’s Department involves alleged theft by care providers.

Detective Don Murray was handed the case after Deputy Paul Pinkham responded to a complaint of theft in excess of $20,000 from an elderly woman in Owls Head back in August.

As a result the Knox County SO arrested and charged two of the people involved who were home care givers to the victim, and the third was a friend of one of them.

Detective Murray says Tasha Campbell, 22 of Searsmont and Alicia Rawley, 45 of Waldoboro admitted they had, on many occasions, taken the victims debit and credit cards and used them for cash.  The debit card had over 80 transactions of cash withdrawals that the victim was unaware of.

A friend of Campbell’s, Terry Perry, 40 of South Thomaston was also involved and admitted to making cash withdrawals on the card.

All of the suspects have been charged with theft.

If anyone believes that they or someone they know may be a victim of similar crimes, please call Detective Don Murray at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.  207-594-0429 ext. 723.
