The US Geological Survey reported a small earthquake today in Maine. The tremor was centered just west of the town of Phillips. The 2.5 magnitude quake shook Franklin county around 1AM.

This is the sixth earthquake reported in Maine this year.

Earlier this month a slightly stronger quake shook Eastport.

The strongest quake to rattle Maine was back in 1904 at a magnitude of 5.1.
