A driver was killed early this morning after police spotted the truck being driven erratically. Police say the truck was on the wrong side of the road and sideswiped a police cruiser.

WABI-TV reports it started a little after midnight Wednesday in the Washington-Hancock Street area of Bangor. A police officer noticed a pickup truck driving erratically on the wrong side of the road and attempted to get the driver to pull over.

Instead of stopping, the truck sideswiped the cruiser, turned the wrong way onto Hancock Street and hit the median. The driver lost control and went over the embankment to the railroad tracks.

Police say the driver, whose identity has not been released, died at the scene.
