A man is charged with OUI after his vehicle collided with a horse, killing the animal.

State Police say 56-year-old Tommy Collins from Sinclair was driving southbound on Route 162 in Saint Agatha just before 6:30 Sunday evening when two horses entered the road from a nearby farm. He couldn't avoid hitting one of the horses and the animal was killed in the collision. Police say it appears the horses had broken the barn door and walked down to the road.

Collins had some cuts on his hand but refused medical treatment. The State Trooper investigating the crash charged the driver with Operating Under the Influence. His car was a total loss.
