The staff at the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society are searching for the person or people who dropped off a dog outside its Lewiston facility Monday evening.

In the video, a minivan can be seen dropping off the dog and driving away. The dog follows the van as its pulling away.

The dog was abandoned just after the facility closed at 6 p.m.. although staff there said the lights were still on and there was no attempt to contact anyone inside.

The dog later was found dead after it had been hit by a car near the off-ramp of the veteran's memorial bridge.

Anyone with information is asked to call animal control via the Lewiston Police Department at 795-9010.
